Week 5 Win

Congratulations to the Chiefs as we extended our winning streak by beating the Vikings with a score of 19-6.

There is an important lesson to learn in this game and that is to never stop playing hard! The Vikings had the lead for the entire first half 6-0. They scored on their opening drive on a long run for a 6-0 lead and missed the point after touchdown. Then both teams tightened up on defense and neither scored for the rest of the first half. The Chiefs defense came up big several times in the first half with Josh “The Prophet” Cady pulling several flags, Patrick Engskov pulling flags to stop long gains and Mason “The Wall” Schueck stopping any play up the middle.

In the first half the Chiefs had several good plays on offense including a great run by Zack Terry, a super throw by Lucas Greer to Charlie “Crazy Legs” Fisher for a big gain and the first half ended with no scores by the Chiefs.

Then came the second half… the Chiefs scored on three possessions of the second half. This included Lucas Greer and Charlie “Crazy Legs” Fischer hooking up on a pass play and Charlie going down the left side of the field for a touchdown. The extra point was no good. Then on the Chiefs next possession Charlie Fischer had a long run that almost scored another touchdown but close enough for Lucas Greer to throw a short pass to Patrick Engskov for a touchdown and the two of them followed that up on the extra point for a 13-6 Chiefs lead.

The Chiefs defense showed up once again and Parker Gordon intercepted a pass and had an “almost” pick 6 but came up just short of running the interception back for a touchdown. That positioned the Chiefs for another Lucas Greer touchdown pass, this time to Charlie Fischer. The extra point failed and the Chiefs led 19-6.

With the Vikings getting the ball back it was time for more defense and the Chiefs did it again! This time Patrick Engskov and Parker Gordon pulled 4 straight flags and the game ended the Vikings drive as time ran out.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our next game on the Fellowship fields where we will be the visiting team playing the Patriots this Sunday at 2:45 PM on field 6. Please arrive at 2:00 PM so we can get the team ready for the game.   We really showed heart, guts, and passion by coming back in the second half and playing some quality football…Zach Biagiaoni and Caleb Barnard did a great job carrying out their schemed routes to set up our successful plays.  Every play takes everyone on the team doing their part and these guys were a great example of that in this game!

This next game will be a big challenge for the Chiefs but let’s keep that winning streak alive!

Go Chiefs!
